Prescription:Prescribed for Hypertension (Hypotension). Amlodipine should not be used concomitantly with metoprolol as it may increase the hypotensive effects of amlodipine. In patients taking other hypertensive agents, the combination may lead to increased blood pressure and even to a severe and possibly fatal hypertensive crisis.
Dosage:The dosage of amlodipine depends on the patient's age and general health, and it is advisable to start with a low dose and increase the dose gradually. If necessary, the dose may be increased gradually, up to the target dose, by increments of 5 mg/day. In elderly patients (over 65 years), the dosage may need to be increased to 10 mg daily.
